Ugly Sweater Garland

“Don we now our ugly sweaters!” Happy December everyone!! It’s the season of light, festivities…and BLING. Are you decorated already? Just in case you needed inspiration…I have an Ugly Sweater Garland for you – perfect for a tree, a mantel or as a party decoration!

This project starts with a simple shape, the sweater! It’s readily available to cut on Cricut. This one is an Elizabeth Craft die set from several seasons ago. Many paper craft companies carry these, like Hero Arts, My Favorite Things and Waffle Flower Crafts, to suggest a few.

Once I chose a paper pattern, I punched holes in each sleeve and strung it with twine. This is a nice opportunity to use up random paper scraps, because these don’t have to match. Adding eyelets are a good idea if you want it to last more than one season. Then, decorate! This version above is an Advent calendar version with numbers, using dies or stickers, where you can decorate one each day.

Here’s another idea…how about a party garland, where each guest stamps and colors their own pattern? When they are done, guests can hang them up or take them home like an ornament. Set up a table with markers, stickers, and assorted sequins and you have an instant party activity.

I hope this gives you a few Mo’ ideas to get your home ready for the holidays. Let me know with a comment what you thought of the project! Thanks for stopping by!
